history
In 1299 Jan Bogacz received 100 Franconian hooves from the Poor Clares in Stary Sącz between Zabełcze , Siedlce and Mogilno . In this area later the villages Boguszowa, Januszowa, Librantowa, Kwieciszowa (now within the city of Nowy Sącz) and Wolfowa or Olchówka (now a hamlet of Librantowa and Boguszowa) emerged. These villages were historically closely linked. They were donated to Nowy Sącz by Jan Bogacz in 1315 . Between the years 1381 and 1384 it belonged to Zydel Lang ( Longus Seydel ), later a wealthy citizen in Krakow. Until 1412, the owners of this property changed several times. From that year until the partitions of Poland , these five villages belonged to the Premonstratensians in Nowy Sącz .
Januszowa was first mentioned in 1341 as Ianuschowa alias Sonnenschyn . The first name is Slavic derived from the first name of the original owner Jan (usz) (< Hans / Johannes ), the second is of German descent . Later it was also mentioned as Sonneszyn (1384), Sonnenscheyn (1389), Janusszowa alias Zymscheyn , Sonnenskeyn (1412).
After the first partition of Poland, Januszowa came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1900 the village had 305 inhabitants in 46 houses, all of them Polish-speaking and Roman Catholic.
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Januszowa came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .
From 1975 to 1998 Januszowa belonged to the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
