history

Since 1257 the village of Biczyce belonged to Kinga of Poland and from about 1280 to the Poor Clares in Stary Sącz .

After the first partition of Poland , Biczyce came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1788, as part of the Josephine colonization, German colonists of the Lutheran denomination were settled. The village was divided into two parts: Biczyce Polskie / Polish Bischitz (today's Biczyce Górne ) and Biczyce Niemieckie / German Bischitz (today's Biczyce Dolne ). The Protestants belonged to the community in Nowy Sącz. By the end of the 19th century, the descendants of the colonists were partly Polonized. In 1900 the village had 242 inhabitants in 41 houses, 165 of them Polish-speaking, 77 German-speaking, 122 Roman Catholic, 42 Jews and 78 other faiths (predominantly Protestant).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Biczyce Dolne came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .

From 1975 to 1998 Biczyce Dolne was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
