Jaqueline Cristian (born June 5, 1998 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian tennis player .

Career

Jaqueline Cristian started playing tennis at the age of five and her preferred surface is the clay court. She mainly plays on the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has won nine singles and eight doubles titles so far.

Cristian played her first professional tournament in June 2012, where she reached the quarter-finals and collected her first four world ranking points. In 2013 she played seven tournaments and achieved her best result to date with the semifinals in Sharm el-Sheikh in May 2013. In 2014, she only played five tournaments, but could not achieve any special results. In 2015 she received a wildcard on the WTA Tour to qualify for the Bucharest Open . But she failed in her first qualifying match against her compatriot Mihaela Buzărnescu with 3: 6 and 4: 6. She competed in doubles with Elena-Gabriela Ruse ; but they also lost their first game against Elena Bogdan and Alexandra Cadanțu with 3: 6 and 3: 6. Cristian won her first individual tournament in September 2015 in Sharm el-Sheikh , where she defeated Madrie Le Roux 6: 4 and 6: 1 in the final . She played her best season so far in 2016 when she won five ITF singles titles between May and August - three of them in direct succession in Sharm el-Sheikh.

On February 8, 2020, she made her debut for the Romanian Fed Cup team .
