Jason Morgan (born October 9, 1976 in St. John's , Newfoundland ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach who played 44 NHL games. He is the head coach of the Hungarian club DVTK Jegesmedvék.

Player career

Morgan began his career with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League and made his debut in the 1996/97 season with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League , of which he had been drafted in 1995 . In the following years he switched between many teams in the Minor Leagues of North America and was able to celebrate his greatest success to date in the 2000/01 season with the Saint John Flames , to which he had only joined in the playoffs, by winning the Calder Cup . In the following years he recorded many changes and only made a few appearances in the NHL. In 2008 he dared to jump to Europe for the first time and completed a season with Södertälje SK in the Swedish Elitserien , where he could not convince. So he returned the following year to the American Hockey League , but was removed from the active squad of the Springfield Falcons after only four games and finally signed a contract with the Austrian first division club EC KAC , where he joined the team, which was plagued by many injured players should act. His contract was not extended after the end of the season due to a lack of performance. He spent the 2010/11 season with the Norwegian first division club Stjernen, where Morgan was assistant captain. The following season he was committed by the Stockton Thunder from the ECHL before moving to the Arizona Sundogs in 2012 . After two seasons in the CHL, he ended his playing career.

During his career, Morgan completed a total of 44 NHL appearances for five different clubs and 584 games in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Coaching career

For the 2015/16 season Morgan was the head coach of the U18 syndicate of the two Hungarian clubs Miskolc and Debreceni HK, which started in the Austrian youth league. At the beginning of January 2016 he was hired by DVTK Jegesmedvék from the MOL league as head coach. Morgan led the team to the title win.
