Jason Nazary

Jason Nazary (born January 24, 1984 in Aviano , Italy) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( drums , electronics).

Live and act

Jason Nazary, whose father was stationed in the US Air Force in Italy, grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia . He received classical drum lessons, initially from John LaMattina in Atlanta . He won prizes for young talent, took part in numerous jazz workshops, such as Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead , and moved to New York City in 2005. He worked in the jazz scene a. a. with Shayna Dulberger ( The Kill Me Trio , 2006), Darius Jones ( Big Gurl (Smell My Dream) , AUM Fidelity , 2011), Jason Ajemian ( Folklords , 2012) and Noah Kaplan ( Cluster Swerve , hatOLOGY , 2017), also with Olga Bell, Jay Foote, David Crowell and Travis Deuter. The album Fine Objects ( Not Two Records ) was created in 2007 as a trio with Petr Cancura and Joe Morris .

For his solo project So Ghost , with which he released two recordings, he collaborated with Michael Foster , Henry Fraser and Connor Baker. He also plays in the Duo Anteloper with trumpeter Jaimie Branch , in the Duo Clebs with singer Emilie Weibel and in the indie rock band Bear in Heaven . Currently (2017) he is also working in a trio with Elias Stemeseder (piano) and Henry Fraser (bass). Nazary lives in Brooklyn.
