Jeannine Gmelin (born June 20, 1990 in Uster ) is a Swiss rower .

Gmelin grew up with three siblings in Uster and began rowing in 2003 at the Uster rowing club , and in 2011 she switched to the Zurich rowing club . At the U23 World Championships in 2012, she finished eighth in a double scull with Valerie Rosset. In 2013, at 1.71 m for a top rower, the rather short athlete won her first Swiss championship title in the single . In 2014 she finished eighth at the European Championships , a year later she won the silver medal at the European Championships in Poznan behind the Czech Miroslava Knapková . Three months later, she also reached the A final at the 2015 World Championships and finished fifth. She also reached fifth place a year later at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In the 2017 season, Gmelin won two World Cup regattas in the women's one , but skipped the European Championships in May due to an injury. At the World Championships in Florida, she won the gold medal in the single and thus the first world championship medal for a Swiss rower in an Olympic boat class . In 2018 Gmelin won the European Championships in Glasgow , and at the World Championships in Plovdiv she won silver behind the Irish Sanita Pušpure . Also in the European Championships in 2019 won in Lucerne Pušpure before Gmelin.
