The doubles specialist played on the ATP World Tour between 1990 and 1993, and his first year should remain his best. First he won the double-finals of the ATP Challenger tournament at Aptos in July at the side of Scott Melville ; together they won the ATP tournament in New Haven in August as qualifiers against the favored final opponents Goran Ivanišević and Petr Korda . Previously, on the way to the final, they had already beaten the top doubles Jim Grabb and Patrick McEnroe as well as Rick Leach and Jim Pugh . This was also Brown's only tournament victory on the ATP World Tour. Towards the end of the year he won the Bergen Challenger tournament together with Anders Järryd . The first half of 1991 was marked by first-round defeats. As the defending champion, he went back to New Haven with Scott Melville, but they were defeated in the final against Petr Korda and Wally Masur . The rest of 1991 as well as the following year were disappointing, although he was twice in a double semifinals of the ATP Challenger Tour in 1992, but could no longer match the performance of 1990. He played his last professional game in December 1993 at the Challenger tournament in Naples . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1991 with position 47 in doubles; in 1990 he was listed in position 831.
In the individual, Brown could never qualify for a Grand Slam tournament. In the doubles competition he reached the round of 16 of the Australian Open , Wimbledon and the US Open ; At Wimbledon, he was also in the second round of the mixed competition for two years in a row .
