Jeffrey "Jeff" Kottkamp (born November 12, 1960 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2011 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Florida .

Career

Jeff Kottkamp has been based in Florida since 1977. In 1979 he graduated from North Fort Myers High School ; after that he was at Edison Community College in Fort Myers . He then studied political science at Florida State University until 1984 . After studying law at the University of Florida and his admission to the bar in 1987, he began working in this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 2000 and 2006 he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives . There he was, among other things, temporarily chairman of the judicial committee.

In 2006, Kottkamp was elected Lieutenant Governor of Florida alongside Charlie Crist . He held this office between 2007 and 2011. He was Deputy Governor . He was also the chairman of the Space Florida state agency and head of the state's youth and adoption agency. In 2008 he had to represent the sick governor for some time.

After his tenure as Lieutenant Governor, Jeffrey Kottkamp returned to practice as a lawyer. In 2010 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Attorney General of his state at the Republican Primary . He has a son with his wife Cyndie.
