Frank Timothy Brogan (born September 6, 1953 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 1999 and 2003 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Florida .

Career

Frank Brogan studied at the University of Cincinnati and then until 1981 at Florida Atlantic University . He embarked on an ongoing career in education. From 1978 he taught as a teacher in Martin County in Florida. Later he moved to the school administration, where he became headmaster and school councilor. In the meantime he became politically active as a member of the Republican Party . In 1994 he became Florida Secretary of Education as Commissioner of Education . In 1998, Brogan was elected lieutenant governor alongside Jeb Bush . He held this office between 1999 and 2003. He was Deputy Governor . As Vice Governor he was also involved in educational policy activities of the state government. Bush and Brogan were re-elected in 2002.

In 2003, Frank Brogan resigned from lieutenant governor to pursue his education career. Between 2003 and 2009 he was President of Florida Atlantic University . He was then Dean of the State University System of Florida , which includes twelve state universities, until 2013 . In 2013, he left Florida for Pennsylvania , where he became Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education .
