Jeffrey Hornaday

Jeffrey D. Hornaday (born May 3, 1956 in Los Angeles ) is an American choreographer and film director .

life and career

Jeffrey Hornaday began his career in 1982 as a choreographer for the dance film Flashdance and the action film Die Chaotenclique . This was followed by choreographies for the films On the Hunt for the Green Diamond (1984) and A Chorus Line (1985). In 1986 he took over the choreography of the 3D - Science fiction - short film Captain EO with Michael Jackson in the lead role. The film was only shown in Disney amusement parks. Other films in which Hornaday was involved as a choreographer are Tango and Cash (1989), Life Stinks , The Blonde Temptation (both 1991), Carlito's Way (1993), The Godfather's Daughter (1995) and Sweet Jane (1998) .

Back in the 1980s, he directed two episodes for the anthology series ABC Afterschool Specials (1984) and CBS Summer Playhouse (1987). In 1991 the film Shout followed with John Travolta and Heather Graham in the lead roles, in which Gwyneth Paltrow played her first film role. In 2011, 2013 and 2015 he directed the three Disney Channel Original Movies Movie Star - Kissing to a Happy End with Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop and Teen Beach Movie and its sequel Teen Beach 2 with Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell in the lead roles. For Movie Star , he was nominated for the Directors Guild of America Award in 2012 for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children's Programs .

In addition to his film and television work, he has choreographed music videos for Paul McCartney , Michael Jackson and Stevie Nicks . He was nominated for the MTV Video Music Awards for his choreography for the music video I'm Glad by Jennifer Lopez . He adapted the choreography from his film Flashdance from 1983.
