I'm Glad (English for: " I'm happy ") is a song by the US singer Jennifer Lopez . It appeared on their third music album This Is Me ... Then in 2002and was released on July 1, 2003 as the third single from the album. The song could not build on the success of its predecessors and only reached number 32 on the American Billboard Hot 100 . By remixes from Paul Oakenfold song in was Lawrence Fordyce and Murk United States a club hit, reaching fourth place there the dance charts. The song samplet Schoolly D's song PSK What Does It Mean? from 1986.
Music video
The music video was directed by David LaChapelle . The choreography by Jeffrey Hornaday was from his work on the film Flashdance adapted from the year 1983rd In the music video, Lopez wears a similar outfit as the main actress Jennifer Beals in the film, which was based on the life of the worker and dancer Maureen Marder. After filming the music video, Lopez stated that it was one of the most elaborate music videos of her career. The music video was nominated in four categories at the MTV Video Music Awards 2003 : "best female music video", "best dance music video", "best choreography" and "best artistic director".
The imitation of scenes from Flashdance caused Maureen Marder to prosecute Lopez, Sony Corporation and Paramount Pictures in November 2003 on the grounds that the use of the scenes from the film was incompatible with copyright and unauthorized. There were no legal proceedings. In June 2006, the copyright infringement lawsuit was withdrawn.
