Love Do not Cost a Thing (English for. " Love will cost absolutely nothing ") is the first single from Jennifer Lopez 'second studio album J.Lo (2001). It peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after its releaseand became their first number one hit in the UK . Lopez sang the song live for the first time at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2000 on November 16, 2000 in Stockholm , Sweden .

The song Latin Girls by The Black Eyed Peas refers in places to Love Don't Cost a Thing .

Music video

In the music video , Jennifer Lopez gets into a limousine and drives to the highway . Lopez undresses in the limousine while driving. She takes a break on the beach , walks and strips. First she throws away her sunglasses , then her sweater and then her bra. Then she takes a postcard out of her trouser pocket that says: "Wish you were here"; Lopez is now surrounded by dancers (one of the dancers is Lopez's ex-husband, Cris Judd). Then the camera zooms in on the postcard. Lopez then tears up the postcard and throws it away. She gets rid of other symbols of luxury, including undressing on the beach.

At the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards , the video was nominated in two categories: Best Female Video and Best Dance Video .

Commercial win

In the Billboard Hot 100 reached Love Do not Cost a Thing 3rd place and was in the US a huge success for Lopez. In the UK , the single became her first number one hit in 2001.
