Love? is the seventh studio album by the American singer Jennifer Lopez . It was released on April 29, 2011 via Island Records . The recordings for the album began in 2009, the album was originally supposed to be released in 2010 along with their film Plan B für die Liebe . After the lead single Louboutins flopped, Lopez and Epic Records split. In 2010 Lopez signed a new record deal with Island Records, under which the album was released.

background

The album is the follow-up to their last commercially unsuccessful album Brave . In February 2009 the song Hooked on You appeared on the Internet as a leak .

In February 2010, Jennifer Lopez left Sony Music Entertainment . With this, the production of the album was suspended until further notice. With the signing of the new record deal with Island Records, production continued, including with Kuk Harrell. In February 2011, Lopez announced in an interview with the BBC that work on the album had been completed.

While making Plan B for Love , Lopez first mentioned in an interview with MTV's Larry Carol that she was working on a sequel for Brave . At the time of the interview, the song (What Is) Love? already surfaced on the internet. The song was included in the soundtrack for Plan B for Love .

The song Starting Over was written by Wynter Gordon . The song is about the fact that it is very difficult to get to know people again after a breakup. The song One Love , written by Lopez, Antea Birchett, Anesha Birchett, and Dernst II, is about Lopez's previous relationships.

Singles

The first release On the Floor with Pitbull was very successful internationally and was, among other things, her first number one hit in Germany. The song was sold 8.4 million times worldwide. The second single I'm Into You with rapper Lil Wayne became her 15th top hit in the UK. The third single Papi was less commercially successful.

criticism

The album received a mediocre to positive reception from the media. The BRAVO named her one of the top artists of the last decades. The Rolling Stone awarded in his review, only two out of five stars.

Commercial win

In the US, the album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 with 83,000 sales in its first week . In the UK, the album peaked at number six and went gold. In Switzerland, the album became their fourth album, reaching number one. In Germany, the album reached number four on the album charts.
