Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix) is a remix of the song Ain't It Funny by the American singer Jennifer Lopez . In addition to Lopez and Corey Rooney, various musicians from the hip-hop and rap scene were involved in the piece , including Irv Gotti , Ja Rule , Caddillac Tah and Ashanti . The Murder Remix was released as a single as well as on Lopez's remix album J to tha LO !: The Remixes . The remix was internationally more successful than the original version and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Emergence

Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule already had a number one hit with the remix of I'm Real . However, the last studio album J.Lo was no more single release, so Cory Rooney decided to release another remix in order to ensure the commercial success of Lopez. Ja Rule was commissioned, who was working on his version in Irv Gotti's recording studio in New York City . Ashanti, who happened to be in the studio during the recording, wrote two new verses for the piece and sang the demo . Irv Gotti and 7 flew to Los Angeles , where the recordings with Jennifer Lopez were scheduled for September 11, 2001. These had to be postponed because of the terrorist attacks .

Reception and success

In its review of the original Ain't It Funny , the music magazine Billboard pointed to the remix, but said that it was a completely different song. The combination of pop music and rap is trendy and is well suited to helping Jennifer Lopez achieve new success.

The song debuted at number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 1 in March 2002.
