Ain't Your Mama has a basic feminist concept. As a lyrical self, Jennifer Lopez takes on the role of an independent woman who makes it clear to her husband that she is not his mother and that she cares for him unconditionally like a housewife . In the chorus it says that she doesn't cook all day, wash the laundry and clear everything after him. In the first verse, the woman wakes her husband up in the morning and drives him to go to work. He should stop playing computer games as things would now change. She reminds him of the beginning of their relationship when they were still in love and did not take on typical gender roles. In the second verse she sings that he is lucky to still be with her. He should change and overcome his laziness so that the relationship could have a future.

In the video, Jennifer Lopez takes on the roles of various women. She plays a news anchor, a housewife, a secretary, a factory worker and a businesswoman. At first she can be seen as a newscaster who throws away her script and instead speaks into the camera that things are bad and that women need to change their situation. The other women who go to work first see the speech on television and begin to break out of their habits. So the housewife stops cleaning and cooking and pours the food over her husband's head, while the secretary pours his boss's glass of vodka on her boss' face. The factory worker stops working and the businesswoman is dancing on the table. In the end, we see many more women joining Jennifer Lopez and dancing with her on the street.
