Jelena Anatoljewna Sadoroschnaja ( Russian Елена Анатольевна Задорожная , English transcription Yelena Zadorozhnaya ; born December 3, 1977 in Ust-Kut ) is a Russian middle-distance , long-distance and obstacle runner .

Life

In 2001 she won over 3000 m bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and was sixth over 5000 m at the World Championships in Edmonton . In 2002 she won over 5000 m bronze at the European Championships in Munich . The following year she was eighth over 1500 m and fourth over 5000 m at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , and at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest, she finished sixth.

At the Olympic Games in Athens she was fourth as the fastest non-African runner over 5000 m. In 2005 she started at the World Championships in Helsinki over 3000 m obstacle and was sixth.

After a two-year break from competition, she qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but did not reach the finish line in the run-up.

In 2009 she switched to road running , finished seventh in the Berlin half marathon and won the Kassel City Run and the Trier New Year's Run .

Jelena Sadoroschnaja lives in Irkutsk , belongs to the Russian army and is trained by Alexandr Sapunov.
