Jenna Ortega (born September 27, 2002 in Coachella Valley , California ) is an American actress who has been a child actress in film and television since 2012 . Ortega made her big break in 2016 with the Disney Channel sitcom Right in the Middle and No Escape in which she played the lead role Harley Diaz.

life and career

Jenna Ortega was born in Coachella Valley, California, and began acting at the age of eight and a half. Initially mainly working as a theater actress and in advertising productions, she made the leap into the film and television business with a guest appearance in one episode each of Rob and CSI: NY and was henceforth continuously booked for films and television series. In the following year, she was in two internationally successful films in action; she played the role of Annie in James Wan's Insidious: Chapter 2 and the daughter of the Vice President in Iron Man 3 . In 2013 she also acted in an episode of the longstanding US soap operaTime of longing and also took on a recurring role in the horror fantasy series Deadtime Stories .

In 2014 she was seen as Mary Ann in Die kleine Superstolche save the day , a remake from the Die-kleine-Trolche series, a role that Mary Ann Jackson once played . She was seen in other supporting roles in 2014 in the Nickelodeon films The Cookie Mobster and The Massively Mixed-Up Middle School Mystery , as well as in the short film Young Love . Ortega was also used in various internationally known television series in 2014. She was seen as a younger version of the main and title character Jane Villanueva (played by Gina Rodriguez ) in Jane the Virgin , in which she was used in 30 episodes until 2019. In the German-language dubbed version of the series, her character is spoken by Lilia Duda .

She also had guest appearances in the television series AwesomenessTV and OMG! , and a speaking role in an episode of cartoonist Patrick McHale's mini-series Over the Garden Wall . She also appeared in seven episodes of the short-lived US television series Rake by Greg Kinnear as Zoe Leon and as the protagonist of the web series Know It All Nina . Soon after, she was cast in the role of Darcy in the Netflix series Richie Rich in October 2014 . Lea Kalbhenn appears as her German voice . Also in 2015, she played the film daughter of Óscar Jaenada in Juan Feldman's drama After Words , also known under the working title The Librarian . In the following year 2016 she will again be seen or heard in recurring roles in the Disney Channel series Mittendrin und kein Escape and in the Disney Junior cartoon series Elena of Avalor .

Parallel to her acting career, Ortega also appears in various commercials on US television. They have already been seen in commercials by Burger King , Old Navy , Fruity Pebbles or the NASDAQ OMX Group .
