Jessie Maduka (born April 23, 1996 in Düsseldorf , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German athlete who specializes in the triple jump and also takes part in sprint competitions.

career path

With a scholarship, Jessie Maduka studied psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from September 2014 until mid-2018. She is now at the German Sport University Cologne .

Athletic careers

At the age of nine Maduka came to Düsseldorfer SC 99 and proved to be a talented all-rounder. At the age of 14, she switched to ART Düsseldorf , where she specialized in sprint and jumping disciplines.

15-year Maduka had 2011 premiere at the German Youth Championships and each took in the U18 bronze in long jump and triple jump and in the 100-meter dash .

In 2012, at the age of 16, she was U20 vice world champion with the 4 x 100 meter relay .

Further titles and finals followed in the older age groups.

In 2018 Maduka was runner-up in the active German indoor triple jump and won bronze at the NCAA indoor championships in College Station ( Texas ) for the UCLA starting with her personal best of 13.81 m. She won bronze at the German championships .

In 2019 Maduka had to cancel the indoor season due to a foot injury. At the end of May she won the German University Championships in the triple jump and came in 5th place in the 100-meter run . At the German championships Maduka took 6th place.

In 2020 she was third with a personal season best at the German Indoor Championships with 13.40 m and German runner-up with 13.57 m .

Maduka was in the junior squad 1 U23 of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and is now in the perspective squad .
