The Jever-Fun-Lauf (full name Internationaler Schortenser Jever-Fun-Lauf ) is a people and street run that has been taking place in the town of Schortens in Lower Saxony since 1987 .

The main competition over ten English miles is one of the most important road races over this distance in Europe . The program also includes fun runs over five kilometers and ten kilometers as well as various school runs and a Bambini run. All competitions are completed on a four-kilometer lap in the center of Schortens. The finish area is at the community center. The organizer is the Heidmühler football club.

history

With the Olympia-Werke as sponsor, the run was launched in 1987 as the International Schortenser AEG Olympic Run . In 1990 a non-stop relay race across the inner-German border took place on the occasion of the event, in which a torch was carried from Schwerin to Schortens, with Olympic champion Waldemar Cierpinski as the final runner. After the Olympia-Werke closed in 1991, the Frisian Brewery became Jever's sponsor and namesake.
