Life
Dianow came from a family of employees. His parents were Mikhail Jakowlewitsch Dianow (1901-1981) and Jelisaveta Ivanovna Dianowa (1900-1986). After attending secondary school in Pachomowo in Rajon Saokski Dianov began in 1954 to study at the physical faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University , where he graduated 1960th He then worked in the Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR), since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN). In 1966 he defended his candidate dissertation . In 1977 he defended his doctoral thesis for a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences .
In 1983 Dianow moved to the Institute for General Physics (IOF) of the AN-SSSR, founded in 1982 by Alexander Michailowitsch Prokhorov , of which Dianow was Deputy Director from 1988-1998. In 1987 he was elected a corresponding member of the AN-SSSR.
Dianow's research areas were laser physics , nonlinear optics and fiber optics . The focus of work was on optical waveguides with low losses , their manufacture and the measurement of their properties, soliton propagation , fiber lasers and optical amplifiers . He developed highly efficient Raman fiber lasers . With his over 700 publications and patents , Dianow achieved a Hirsch index of 51. Igor Alexejewitsch Bufetow was one of his students . In 1994 he was elected Director of the Science Center for Fiber Optics at the IOF and a full member of the RAN. In 2006 he retired.
