Jitka Pešinová , née Šimůnková , (born May 24, 1977 in Jablonec nad Nisou ) is a former Czech biathlete .

Jitka Pešinová works as a physical education teacher. She lives and trains in her hometown Jablonec nad Nisou and started for the top local club Ski Klub Jablonec Nad Nisou . In 1990 she started biathlon. The Czech competed in her first race in the Biathlon World Cup in 1996 in a sprint in Pokljuka , which she finished 83rd. A first major international success was winning the bronze medal in the relay race at the 1997 European Biathlon Championships in Windischgarsten , which she achieved with Irena Madlová and Irena Tomšová . It was not until 1998 that she was able to win World Cup points for the first time in a sprint race in Hochfilzen in eighth place. It was also her best World Cup result ever and her only top ten result. With this one result in the points, Pešinová was 53rd in the overall World Cup ranking of the season, which is also her best career result. She first took part in the biathlon world championships in 1999 in Kontiolahti . With Kateřina Holubcová , Irena Česneková and Eva Háková , she finished eleventh in the relay race. This was followed by appearances in the European Cup , which was held after the World Cup in her home town of Jablonec nad Nisou. Pešinová was able to place third in the sprint and mass start on the podium and was also fifth in the pursuit race.

At the start of the 1999/2000 season , she missed a podium finish in fourth place in a relay race in the World Cup line-up in Hochfilzen. The first highlight of the season was the 2000 European biathlon championships in Kościelisko . Pešinová was in the individual 21st, 38th of the sprint race and won the silver medal with Holubcová, Česneková and Háková behind the Slovak relay. A little later she also took part in the World Championships of the year at the Holmenkollen in Oslo . In the individual, she finished 63rd, was 44th in the sprint and 36th in the pursuit. With the season she ran in the proven line-up in tenth place. For the third and last time Pešinová took part in a World Cup in 2001 in Pokljuka. With 20th place in the sprint, she achieved her best result at a World Championship. In addition, she came in 38th place in the sprint and was 54th in the pursuit race. The last major event was the 2003 European Biathlon Championships in Forni Avoltri , where the Czech was 29th in the individual, 41st in the sprint and 33rd in the pursuit race. After the season Pešinová ended her career.
