Joachim Lohse (born December 30, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From June 2011 to August 2019 he was Senator for the Environment, Building and Transport of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .

biography

education and profession

Lohse studied chemistry in Hamburg and Southampton from 1976 to 1983. In 1988 he received his PhD in marine geochemistry. Then he was a founding partner and until 2003 a member of the management of the Hamburg Institute Ökopol - Institute for Ecology and Politics GmbH . He wrote numerous expert reports and scientific statements on the topics of environmental pollution, environmental quality, industrial plants, environmentally compatible products as well as regional and global material flows for state and federal ministries, the European Commission, companies, citizens' initiatives and international environmental associations. From 2003 to 2009 Joachim Lohse was the managing director of the Öko-Institut .

From March 2010 to June 2011, Lohse was the Head of Transport, Environment, Urban Development and Construction in Kassel .

He is married and has two children.

Since June 2011 he has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and a member of the Bremen state government as Senator for Environment, Building and Transport. ( Senate Böhrnsen III ). After the general election in 2015 , he was confirmed in his office as Senator ( Senate Sieling ). He also took over the agriculture department.

During his term of office, the new designation of the Blumenthal water protection area and the new version of the land use plan and landscape program fell . With a housing subsidy program , the new construction of energy-efficient, barrier-free living space has been subsidized since 2013, with at least 25% subsidized apartments for low-income population groups being created in larger new building areas. Due to its success and the demand, the Bremen Senate decided on a second housing subsidy program in February 2015. For developed under his leadership Transport Master Plan Bremen 2025 Lohse took on 23 March 2015 Brussels of EU transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc European prize for sustainable transport development planning in cities (EU SUMP Award) counter.

As a senator, he was a member of the supervisory bodies of Bremer Straßenbahn AG , Gewoba , Bremen Economic Development Corporation and bremenports .

At the General Assembly of the Greens after the 2019 general election , Lohse spoke out in favor of a Jamaica coalition. His successor as Senator was Maike Schaefer (Greens) in August 2019 .
