Joe Cullen (born February 14, 1981 in Moorhead , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who last played for the Braehead Clan in the EIHL . His brothers Matt and Mark are also ice hockey players.
Career
Joe Cullen began his career as a hockey player in 1998 in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , which was a team in the United States Hockey League . In the summer of 1999 he began studying at Colorado College , which at that time was participating with a team in the NCAA championship. In 2003 he finished his studies and got his first professional contract with the Toronto Roadrunners from the American Hockey League , the farm team of the Edmonton Oilers , who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft . In the summer of 2004, the Roadrunners were relocated from Toronto to Edmonton and Joe Cullen began the following season with the Edmonton Road Runners . In the middle of the 2004/05 season he was given over to league rivals San Antonio Rampage .
In the summer of 2005, Cullen signed a one-year contract with the Binghamton Senators , again from the AHL. Before the 2006/07 season he moved to the ECHL for the Dayton Bombers . In the same year he came to work with their partner team from the AHL, the Syracuse Crunch . After the season he went to Europe and was signed by SC Riessersee from the second Bundesliga .
In summer 2008 the center switched to SG Cortina from the Italian A1 series . He played there for two years before being signed by HC Pustertal from the same league in August 2010 . At the beginning of May 2011, his contract with HC Pustertal was extended for one year.
