Joseph Paul Lapis (born April 10, 1899 in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County , Hungary , † October 26, 1991 in San Luis Obispo County , California ) was an American sound engineer who was nominated for the Oscar for best special effects was.

Life

A native of Hungary Lapis began his career as a sound engineer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1929 with the romantic film drama The Mississippi Gambler by Reginald Barker with Joseph Schildkraut , Joan Bennett and Carmelita Geraghty .
