Johann August Leberecht Brinckmann (born January 29, 1791 in Jodlauken , † March 4, 1872 in Barby ) was a Prussian major general .

His parents were the general tenant of Jodlauken Ernst Julius Brinckmann and his wife Juliane, née Viebrandt.

Military career

Brinckmann studied 1806/07 first of all the building trades , then entered Prussian service and was hired on October 28, 1808 Bombardier in the East Prussian artillery brigade. There he was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-September 1811 . During the wars of liberation he took part in the crossing at Wartenburg , was wounded in the battle of the Katzbach and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class for his behavior near Leipzig . From March 16, 1832 to July 28, 1833 he acted as an artillery officer from the square in Cologne and was then transferred to the 7th Artillery Brigade with the promotion to major . This was followed from October 26, 1836 as a department commander of the 5th Artillery Brigade . He was born on March 22, 1843 to lieutenant colonel , and on March 31, 1846 Colonel promoted. Brinckmann married Frederike Dorothea Charlotte von Berlepsch (1800-1863) on March 29, 1820 in Minden . The couple had two sons and three daughters.
