Johann Christoph Pfennig (organ builder)

Johann Christoph Pfennig (* around 1700 ; † after 1761 ) was a German organist and organ builder in Wahrenbrück , Sonnewalde and Calau in Lower Lusatia .

He is to be distinguished from Johann Christian Pfennig , who was an organ builder in Kröbeln.

Life

Johann Christoph Pfennig was an organist and organ builder in Wahrenbrück . In 1730 he became the organist in Sonnewalde bestallt . In 1734 the church and school burned down there. From 1737 Pfennig was organist in Calau . A few new organs and repairs are known up to 1743, after that only one renovation in 1761.

  • Johann Christian Pfennig (1706–1787), probably brother or son, was an organ builder in Kröbeln near Liebenwerda
  • Johann Gottlieb Pfennig (1822–27 March 1788), son, was initially a musician and organ builder in Calau, was appointed organist in Spremberg by the magistrate in 1752 and confirmed by Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony
  • Johann Christoph Pfennig (jun.), Submitted the father's (?) Repair offer for Calau in 1761, also a repair in Lübbenau (1781?), Received no further news.

Johann Christoph Pfennig is known to have had two new organs, four attributions, a contribution to a new building, as well as a renovation, two maintenance orders and another repair. Parts of the ascribed organ in Gehren (before Finsterwalde) as well as the ascribed brochures in Gahro and Lugau have been preserved .

Johann Gottlieb Pfennig is known to have two new organs and one who worked on the new building, which have not been preserved, as well as repairs and maintenance contracts. Mix-ups with individual works by Johann Christian Pfennig from Kröbeln are possible.
