Johann Christoph Wilhelm Maschke (born February 22, 1784 in Mrotschen ; † June 10, 1863 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the domain official Christoph Maschke and his wife Elisabeth, née Majczowna.

Military career

After attending high school in Posen, Maschke joined the field artillery corps of the Prussian Army in 1800 and took part in the defense of Küstrin during the Fourth Coalition War. After the war, at the beginning of November 1809, he was promoted to second lieutenant in the Brandenburg Artillery Brigade . During the wars of liberation he took part in the blockade of Glogau and the battle of Dresden . After receiving a commendation for Kulm , Maschke was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for Leipzig . In 1814 he fought near Arcis-sur-Aube , was wounded near Paris and was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV class.

On May 21, 1815 he came as a Premier Lieutenant in the Guards Artillery Brigade and promoted to captain on May 23, 1816 in the 5th Artillery Brigade . On June 20, 1822 Maschke was adjutant of the General Inspectorate of the Artillery and in this position on July 26, 1823 of the Guard Artillery Brigade aggregated . On June 19, 1823 he became an artillery officer from the square in Glogau. When he was promoted to major on December 15, 1828, he was appointed department commander in the 1st Artillery Brigade . On March 30, 1836, he was initially assigned to lead the 5th artillery brigade and on January 14, 1837, Maschke was appointed brigadier. On the occasion of the festival of the order he received the Order of the Red Eagle III in January 1838 . Class with ribbon and rose to colonel by early April 1842 . From March 14, 1848 to March 19, 1849 Maschke was commandant of Breslau. He then was awarded the character as a major general with pension from the military adopted . He died on June 10, 1863 in Breslau and was buried there on June 13, 1863.

Maschke married Karoline Emilie Götte (1797–1867), a daughter of the businessman Johann Jakob Götte, on July 24, 1817 in Posen. The couple had two sons and two daughters.
