Johann Friedrich von Kreytzen

Johann Friedrich von Kreytzen (* 1693 ; † May 17, 1759 near Deutsch-Kamnitz ) was a Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 40 , as well as a knight of the Order of St. John and designated commander of Werben.

Life

He came from the noble family von Kreytzen , his parents were the heir to Polkitten and Rohmdorff Ernst Albrecht von Kreytzen (1656-1710) and his first wife Anna Dorothea von Kalnein. His brother was Lieutenant General Georg Christoph von Kreytzen . General Karl Erhard von Kalnein was a nephew of Anna Dorothea von Kalnein. His father's second wife was Luise Charlotte von Loebel (1668–1747). His stepsister Charlotte Albertine von Kreytzen (* June 21, 1708; † January 20, 1769) later married Lieutenant General Reimar Julius von Schwerin . His stepbrother Friedrich von Kreytzen also became major general.

He came into Prussian service in 1707 . On March 20, 1715, he became an ensign in Infantry Regiment No. 26 . He went through the ranks up to major in the regiment . As such, he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 5 in 1734 . On April 10, 1741 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on January 18, 1745 colonel and commander in regiment No. 5. In June 1747 he received the Pour le Mérite . On May 19, 1750, as Major General, he became Chief of Infantry Regiment No. 40 and thus his brother's successor. He died during the Seven Years' War to a Steckfluß ( asthma ) on 17 May 1759, when his regiment in the camp of German-Kamnitz stood at Neisse. He was buried in the cemetery of the Berlin garrison church.
