Johann Georg Fincke
Johann Georg Fincke , also Fink , Finke (* around 1680; † buried May 26, 1749 in Saalfeld ) was a German organ builder .
Life
It is unclear whether Fincke's father Christian Fincke was already an organ builder. It is possible that Johann Georg Fincke worked with Georg Christoph Stertzing on the organ of the city church in Jena .
He first settled in Jena. In 1709 he moved to Saalfeld to build the organ in the town church there . This organ was approved by Johann Nikolaus Bach . In 1719 Fincke received a privilege .
From 1720 Johann Georg Fincke was increasingly active in Gera . Since he acquired civil rights there, it can be assumed that the workshop will move. Johann Sebastian Bach tested the organ he built in the local Johanniskirche . He issued a positive report on this instrument, which is equipped with numerous technical and sonic features.
In 1726 Fincke settled in Neustadt an der Orla . There he had also received the order for a large new organ. However, his stay in Neustadt seems to have been only temporary. Later he can be found again in Saalfeld.
Fincke's son Johann Georg took over the workshop after his father's death.
