biography

Eybelwieser was the son of the painter Hans ( Johann ) Jacob Eybelwieser from Vienna, who was accepted into the Breslau painters' guild on December 16, 1679 and soon afterwards became a master.

It is not known whether Eybelwieser was born there in Vienna or after his father's arrival in Breslau. He is said to have been a student of Michael Willmann and a member of his workshop. On February 4, 1698, he married Anna Elisabeth Lehmann, widow of the miniature painter Bernhard Josef Lehmann, in Glatz . In the same year he acquired the master's license in Wroclaw.

Eybelwieser created numerous church paintings, the compositions of which bear witness to Willmann's strong artistic influence. He was a respected portrait painter and had close ties to the Order of the Brothers of Mercy . Many of his drawings and designs have been preserved in museums.

The date of his death is not known. He was buried on January 4, 1744 in Breslau.
