Johannes Beeck
Johannes Beeck (born April 13, 1927 in Mönchengladbach ; † August 9, 2010 in Krefeld ) was a German glass painter who designed windows for many churches, especially in the Rhineland .
Life and career
Johannes Beeck came from a middle-class Catholic family. In 1941 he began an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and finished this in 1944 with the technical college entrance qualification. Afterwards he worked in the air force due to the war and was then a prisoner of war until 1946. From 1947 Beeck became a student of the artist Mate Mink-Born. In 1949 Johannes Beeck introduced them to Anton Wendling , who was a professor at RWTH Aachen University. He hires him privately, as there was no more space in the academy class. Beeck learns glass painting and the design of mosaics at Wendling. From 1952 to 1954, Beeck continued his training at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld. He married in 1953. From 1955 to 1957 he taught art at a grammar school in Geilenkirchen . From 1955 Johannes Beeck began his career as a freelance glass painter. From the beginning he received many new orders from parishes for new church windows, as the windows in most of the churches had been destroyed by the Second World War. Furthermore, Johannes Beeck was friends with the sculptor Paul Brandenburg since 1966. Both worked repeatedly on joint projects.
Johannes Beeck lived and worked in Hinsbeck , Nettetal.
