Johannes Gabl

Johannes Gabl (* 1973 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is an Austrian actor and theater director .

Life

Johannes Gabl, who grew up in Kematen , initially did an apprenticeship as a car painter and plumber . From 1995 to 1998 he completed his acting studies at the drama school Cingl & Fröhlich at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck.

From the 1997/98 season until 2006 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz for an eight-year period . In 1999 and 2000 he appeared at the Bregenz Festival . Gabl has been working as a freelance actor and director since 2006.

His stage roles include Karl in Maria Magdalena (2000), Erich in Katzelmacher (2004), Mortimer in Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen (2004), Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (2006) and Jack Worthing in Bunbury (Tiroler Landestheater, season 2009/10) .

In 2006 he was the Romeo at the Theater im Hof in Enns , with Pippa Galli as a partner. In 2007 he was a guest at the Tiroler Volksschauspiele in Telfs as Celia in As You Like It . In the 2009/10 season he appeared at the Bruneck City Theater in the title role of the Sophocles tragedy King Oedipus (director: Oliver Karbus ). In 2011 he appeared again at the Tiroler Volksschauspiele in Telfs, this time as Franz Moor in Schiller's early work The Robbers . In the 2011/12 season he took on the role of Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet in a production by Oliver Karbus at the Tiroler Landestheater . At the Hague Theater Summer in June / July 2012 he appeared as judge Walter in Der zerbrochne Krug . In 2015 he took on Antonius in the Shakespeare tragedy Antonius und Cleopatra at the Innsbruck cellar theater . In the 2016/17 season he was at the Tiroler Landestheater der Trinculo in a new production of Shakespeare's late work Der Sturm .

He also had piece contracts at the Theater Kosmos in Bregenz, at the Theater Tour, at the Theater klas and at the theater in the old town in Meran . As a theater director, he worked at the Bregenz State Theater (2006, 2008), at the “Theater praesent” in Salzburg (2014, Hedda Gabler ), at the Innsbruck Zeughaus (2015) and at the Innsbruck Basement Theater (2016).

In addition to his theater work, Gabl also occasionally appeared in front of the camera for film and television. In November 2015 he was seen in a leading role in the Austrian crime series SOKO Donau . He played the local politician Florian Sander, the supposed friend of a married couple who campaigned for environmental protection; it was first broadcast in Germany in October 2016.

Gabl is a father of two and lives with his family in Völs and Innsbruck.
