Johannes Puetz

Johannes Pütz (born February 27, 1926 in Cologne , † February 5, 1971 in Würzburg ) was a German orchestra leader , conductor and composer .

life and work

After studying at the State University of Music in Cologne, Pütz worked as a freelancer at the NWDR in Cologne from 1946 to 1950 , and from 1952 to 1958 as Kapellmeister at the Saarbrücken State Theater . In 1959 he followed a call from Georg Solti as second conductor at the Frankfurt Opera .

In 1962 he became director of the "Great Dance and Entertainment Orchestra of the Hessian Radio" and appeared in numerous entertainment programs, including the Frankfurter Wecker and the Saturday evening TV show " One will win " with Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff . On February 1, 1964 and February 20, 1965, he also took part in this function in the TV show Karussell , a broadcast that was described as the "Great Carnival Ball of the Hessian Radio".

In 1968 he conducted Brecht / Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper in a radio production with Horst Tappert , Willy Trenk-Trebitsch and Heidemarie Hatheyer . He also directed operetta recordings with René Kollo and the choir and orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper . With Margit Schramm as a soloist and the entertainment orchestra of the Hessischer Rundfunk , he also conducted the song Don't let your head hang from the operetta Frau Luna .

In addition to his conducting activities, Pütz also worked as an arranger ; among other things he arranged music by Johann Strauss , Josef Strauss and Eduard Strauss for orchestra.

Pütz also composed music for radio plays . His works include the “Lyrical Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra”, “Little Elegy for Solo Violin, Celesta and String Orchestra” and “Variations on a Children's Song for String Quartet”.

He died as a result of a car accident.
