Johanneszeche is a district of the district town of Wunsiedel in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains ( Upper Franconia ), six kilometers east of the city center. In 2000 there were 21 people living in Johanneszeche.

Transport links

From Wunsiedel the state road 2665 leads east towards Thiersheim and to the federal highway 93 . There was a stop called Johanneszeche on the Holenbrunn – Selb railway line that was dismantled there .

history

Soapstone (steatite) has been mined in the pits of the Johanneszeche since 1542 . In 1810 the mine became the property of the Bavarian state, and from 1857 onwards, various companies engaged in economic mining. Today only a few mines and heaps remind of the once flourishing mining industry .
