After a weak start to the second season, the American gradually improved and was the leader in the respective categories with 16 goals and 8 power play goals. At the end of the season, Rheault received the Lou Lamoriello Award, the award for the most valuable player on his team. He was then selected in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers in 145th position, but never played a game for the organization of the Flyers. After two more seasons at Providence College , the American moved to the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL , where he could not convince. During the season Rheault was given to Ontario Reign , a cooperation partner of the Monarchs. In the 2009/10 season he returned to the Monarchs after a brief interlude with the Providence Bruins . Again, the talent in Manchester could not call up its potential and ended the season at AHL competitor Abbotsford Heat . After Rheault initially received no follow-up contract, he was initially a free agent . On June 16, 2010, the player signed a contract after all. Two successful seasons followed, in which the variable attacker drew the attention of the Florida Panthers organization . The American signed a two-way contract for the 2012/13 season . Due to the NHL lockout , the native Texan was directly on the roster of the San Antonio Rampage , a farm team of the Panthers. After convincing appearances in the AHL, his debut in the NHL followed in a 4-1 home win against the Winnipeg Jets .
On July 2, 2013 Adler Mannheim announced Rheault's commitment. The attacker signed a one-year contract and ultimately stayed in Mannheim for three years. In the 2014/15 season he reached first place in the table after the regular season with the Eagles and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs .
In May 2016 Rheault moved to EHC Visp in the Swiss National League B (NLB).
Style of play
His strengths include hard, placed shots, a good outnumbered game and his willingness to play. Despite his small size, he is a strong gang player. His former trainer Chuck Weber described him as a fast, dynamic attacker with a high level of game intelligence who processes events quickly and usually makes the right decisions.
