Jonathan Hofmeister

Jonathan Hofmeister (* 1992 in Fürth ) is a German jazz musician ( piano , composition).

Act

Hofmeister has been studying piano at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and the CNSMDP since 2011 . There he had lessons with u. a. John Taylor , Ethan Iverson and Benoît Delbecq . He was a member of the Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Jazz Orchestra , on whose album Groove and the Abstract Truth he was involved.

With Florian Herzog and Jan F. Brill he formed the collaborative piano trio Turn , which released its debut album in 2016, followed in 2019 by Acapulco Roadkill (Label 11). He also leads his own quartet; these include Matthew Halpin , David Helm and Fabian Arends ; Reinforced by trumpeter Bastian Stein , this quintet released the album Emotions on Klaeng in 2019 . He toured Europe and South America both with his own groups and as a sideman. He performed with John Hollenbeck , Billy Hart , Ben Monder and Manfred Schoof, among others .
