Jonathan "Jonny" Brodzinski (born June 19, 1993 in Blaine , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League since July 2019 and for their farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , is used in the American Hockey League .
Career
Jonny Brodzinski played in his youth for the Blaine High School team in his hometown before moving to the Fargo Force in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest junior league in the USA, in the spring of 2011 . There he was active in the 2011/12 season and then enrolled at St. Cloud State University , for whose huskies he henceforth participated in the games of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As a freshman , the attacker convinced in the 2012/13 season with 33 scorer points from 42 games and a plus / minus statistic of +28, so that he was selected in the following NHL Entry Draft 2013 in 148th position by the Los Angeles Kings . In the following season he achieved a points average of over 1.0 per game and was consequently elected to the NCHC First All-Star Team . After the center returned to the Huskies for another season , the Los Angeles Kings equipped him with an entry-level contract in April 2015 .
For the 2015/16 season, Brodzinski switched to the Kings organization and was henceforth used by their farm team , the Ontario Reign , in the American Hockey League (AHL). During the 2016/17 season, the American scored 49 points in 59 games and represented the Reign at the AHL All-Star Classic . In addition, he made his debut for the Kings in the National Hockey League (NHL) in March 2017 and was used there regularly - in addition to occasional changes to the AHL. In July 2019, he finally joined the San Jose Sharks as a free agent .

Personal
His father Mike Brodzinski also played at St. Cloud State University and was then briefly active for the Peoria Rivermen in the International Hockey League in the professional field. His brothers Michael Brodzinski (* 1995), Easton Brodzinski (* 1996) and Bryce Brodzinski (* 2000) are also ice hockey players, with Michael being selected seven positions ahead of Jonny by the San Jose Sharks in the same NHL Entry Draft .
