José Nelson Westrupp SCI (born September 11, 1939 in Imarui ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Santo André .

Life

José Nelson Westrupp joined the order of the Dehonians , made his profession on February 2, 1962 and was ordained a priest on June 28, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of São José dos Campos on May 11, 1991 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Carlo Furno , donated him episcopal ordination on July 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Geraldo María de Morais Penido , Archbishop of Aparecida , and Eusébio Scheid SCI, Archbishop of Florianópolis . As a motto he chose SEM MIM NADA PODEIS .

On October 1, 2003 he was appointed Bishop of Santo André . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 27, 2015.

From February 4, 2017 to February 7, 2018 he was Apostolic Administrator of the vacant diocese of Lages .
