Jose Rapadas

Jose Ramirez Rapadas III (born July 12, 1972 in Tondo , Manila , Philippines ) is a Filipino clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Iligan .

Life

Jose Rapadas studied at the Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro and then obtained a degree in dogmatics from the Ateneo de Manila University . On May 19, 1999, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Ipil .

After his ordination, he was chancellor of the diocesan curia from 1999 to 2003 and head of diocesan pastoral care from 2000 to 2007, in addition to various tasks in pastoral care. He was then a lecturer at the Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro and responsible for the catechists and for family and life. From 2011 to 2017 he was head of the pastoral office, rector of the seminar in Ipil and lecturer at the Athenaeum in Zamboanga City . Since 2017 he has been Episcopal Vicar for the clergy and pastor in Malangas .

On June 13, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Iligan. The Bishop of Ipil, Julius Sullan Tonel , ordained him episcopal on August 20 of the same year in the Cathedral of Ipil . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Tagbilaran , Alberto Uy , and the Bishop of Malaybalay , José Araneta Cabantan . The inauguration in the Diocese of Iligan took place on September 5, 2019.
