Jose Serofia Palma (born March 19, 1950 in Dingle ) is a Filipino clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cebu .

Life

Jose Serofia Palma was ordained a priest on August 21, 1976 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Vazari-Didda and auxiliary bishop in Cebu on November 28, 1997 .

The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Gian Vincenzo Moreni , donated his episcopal ordination on January 13 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Alberto Jover Piamonte , Archbishop of Jaro , and Fernando Capalla , Archbishop of Davao .

He was appointed Bishop of Calbayog on January 13, 1999, and was installed in office on March 9 of the same year. On March 18, 2006 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Palo and introduced to office on May 2 of the same year. He was named Archbishop of Cebu on October 15, 2010, and was introduced to the office on January 13 of the next year.

From 2011 to 2013 he was chairman of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.

On November 11, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Pontifical Council for Culture .
