Josef Brönner (born May 12, 1884 in Grünsfeld , Grand Duchy of Baden , † January 21, 1958 in Heidelberg ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Brönner, who was a Roman Catholic , completed language studies in France and Italy . He then went to the United States for three years . He was a soldier in the First World War . After the end of the war he worked as an interpreter and studied law and political science at the same time at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he received his PhD in 1921. rer. pole. PhD. He was a member of the League for the Protection of German Culture and worked from 1921 to 1924 for the Württemberg Economic Society in Stuttgart . From 1924 to 1928 he was director of the Reichszentrale für Heimatdienst . After his removal from office as mayor, he worked as advertising manager for the Württemberg building society until 1945 .

From 1928 to 1933, Bronner mayor in Bad Mergentheim . In 1933 he was removed from his position as mayor because of “political unreliability” . From 1945 to 1946 he was District Administrator of the Mergentheim District and as such a member of the Provisional People's Representation set up by the American military government . He was then elected to the freely elected constituent assembly of the state of Württemberg-Baden . He was a member of the German Bundestag from the first federal election in 1949 until his death. He was always directly elected in the Crailsheim constituency.
