Josef Schumacher (born November 14, 1894 in Vienna , † June 11, 1971 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian civil servant.

Schumacher was the last governor of Tyrol in the First Republic. His tenure in office lasted around three years, initially from March 21, 1935 to September 27, 1935 and then again from September 27, 1935 to March 13, 1938.

After the end of the war in 1945 he continued the civil service career he had begun in 1920, as court councilor of the Tyrolean provincial government, among other things, advisor for Tyrolean customs, major and provincial commander of the Federation of Tyrolean Rifle Companies (in which role he joined the Tyrolean Rifle Federation in 1970, the so-called "small standard" donated), Vice President of the State Council and most recently from January 1, 1958 until his retirement on December 31, 1959, State Office Director of Tyrol.

Josef Schumacher was a son of the lawyer, politician and writer Franz Schumacher (born March 13, 1861 in Innsbruck, died July 23, 1937 in Kleinvolderberg), he was also an honorary citizen of Landeck, Imperial and Royal Lieutenant of the Reserve in the 1st Tyrolean Kaiserjägerregiment and Captain in the records of the Austrian Armed Forces .

He was a member of the Catholic student association AV Austria Innsbruck .

He was married to Josefine Gostner (1900–1996), with whom he had seven children.
