Josef Strobl (politician)

Josef Strobl (born January 30, 1887 in Munich , † June 27, 1965 in Kelheim ) was a German SPD politician, district administrator in the district of Ingolstadt , Lord Mayor of Ingolstadt and member of the Bavarian state parliament .

Career

Strobl attended elementary and advanced training school and completed a commercial apprenticeship in 1900/1901. In 1902 he attended a military school and was then a professional soldier in the arms service, most recently as a fireworks lieutenant. In 1917 he was seriously wounded near Verdun. After the First World War he was a tax officer in the upper middle class , most recently as a tax officer .

From 1924 to 1933 the SPD politician Strobl was a city councilor in Ingolstadt. From May 1932 to April 1933 he was briefly a member of the Bavarian State Parliament. In 1933 and 1944 he was twice in the Dachau concentration camp . In 1945 he was appointed by the American military government as district administrator for the Upper Bavarian district of Ingolstadt. He remained in office until autumn 1946 and was then again until 1952 city councilor and between 1948 and 1952 second mayor of Ingolstadt. In April 1952 he was elected Lord Mayor and held this office until 1955. From 1950 to 1957 he was again a member of the Bavarian State Parliament.

Awards

In 1957 Strobl received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
