Joseph Blowick

Joseph Blowick ( Irish Seósamh Ó Blathmhaic , born March 13, 1903 , † August 12, 1970 ) was an Irish politician and was a member of the Irish Parliament from 1943 to 1965 .

Blowick was first elected in 1943 for the Clann na Talmhan in the constituency of Mayo South in the Dáil Éireann , the Irish lower house. In 1944 he took over the party leadership from Michael Donnellan . As a Member Blowick was appointed to two multi-party governments to the cabinet where he each under Prime Minister John A. Costello as minister of lands ( Minister for Lands ) served. First in the 13th Dáil from February 18, 1948 to June 13, 1951, and in the 15th Dáil from June 2, 1954 to March 20, 1957. In the 1965 elections for the 18th Dáil Éireann, Blowick did not run.
