Jost Friedrich Ludwig von Stechow (* 1719 in Moers ; † September 1, 1760 in Breslau ) was a Prussian lieutenant colonel .

family

Jost Friedrich Ludwig was a member of the Brandenburg noble family von Stechow . His parents were the heir to Stechow and the Prussian colonel and chief of Garrison Regiment No. 6 Kaspar Heinrich von Stechow (1687–1746) and his wife Henriette Wilhelmine von Pelden called Cloudt (1697–1764). He himself remained unmarried and without offspring.

career

Stechow entered the Prussian service and in 1736 was an ensign in the infantry regiment "Sydow" . In the same year he was made a knight of the Order of St. John at the Sonnenburg . He became a lieutenant in 1740 and took part in the First Silesian War . With his promotion to captain he also received a company . After settling in the Seven Years' War in the Bohemian and Saxon distinguished theater of war, Stechow was prematurely Major transported and received at the same time command a grenadier - battalion , which consists of the grenadier companies of the regiments no. 12 and no. 39 was composed. With this battalion he excelled in the battle of Liegnitz , so that he was promoted by the king to lieutenant colonel or even to colonel on the battlefield, was given 1000 thalers and the order Pour le Mérite was awarded. However, Stechow was shot one foot in the battle. During the amputation he died in the hospital in Breslau. He was the heir to Alt Schlage and Hirschfelde.
