Judith Brandner (born April 15, 1963 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian journalist and publicist .

Life

After graduating from the Bundesrealgymnasium Salzburg in 1981 , she became an academically certified translator for English and Japanese (1987). In 2004 she earned a bachelor's degree in Japanese Studies and Translation Studies .

From 1984 to 1997 Brandner was an editor for the ORF international service on shortwave (later Radio Austria International ). In 1987/88 she was a member of the Austrian foreign trade delegation Tokyo . In 1994/95 she was the ORF foreign correspondent in Kyoto , Japan. In 1997 she became a freelancer at ORF Radio Austria 1 . She moderates the Ö1 program Radiokolg. In addition, reports and features etc. a. on SRG DRS 2 , SWR2 , RAI Südtirol , HR and Deutschlandradio and articles in national newspapers and magazines such as Die Zeit , Der Standard , Die Presse and WOZ Die Wochenzeitung .

She teaches at the VHS polycollege in Vienna. In 2002 she was a lecturer at the Institute for East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna and in 2014 at the Institute for Japanese Studies. 2009, 2011/12 and 2014 visiting professor at Nagoya Municipal University .
