Julia Kautz (born June 8, 1981 in Vienna ) is a singer and songwriter from Munich .

Life

Julia Kautz grew up in Maiersdorf in the Wiener Neustadt district and was already recording her first self-written songs with a cassette recorder at the age of 4. At the age of 6 she had piano and guitar lessons before she founded her first Nirvana association at the age of 12 . She later sang in other bands from the genres of metal , reggae , jazz and pop .

She graduated from a high school for music and then studied German language and literature as well as theater, film and media studies in Vienna until she started a career as a journalist in the music department of the Austrian magazine Rennbahn Express and then News . From then on, Kautz interviewed well-known music greats such as Phil Collins , Sting and Depeche Mode . In 2003 she moved to Munich and started a job at Bravo , where she later worked as a chief reporter. During her intensive travel activities for interviews, she met musicians such as Beyonce , Rihanna , Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber . She also moderated the daily program “BRAVO WebTV”. In 2011, together with Sascha Wernicke, she wrote the novel “In the bus at the very rear” - the autobiography of the rapper Fler - which even made it to 13th place on the Spiegel bestseller list. In 2012 Kautz decided to quit her job at Bravo and devote herself entirely to music.

Musical career

Julia Kautz received her first record deal with Warner Music as part of the Neonherz duo . This was followed by the first singles Superheld and Rosenrot and in 2013 the release of their first album together, Neonherz . Numerous appearances, for example in the ZDF television garden and at the REWE Family Festival, followed.

Julia Kautz has been working as a solo artist under her real name since 2015 and in the same year she released her first own single Tell me where . She also works as a songwriter for other artists such as Wincent Weiss , Luxuslärm , Max Mutzke , Cassandra Steen and the Austrian artist Tina Naderer . In 2015 she achieved a number one placement in Japan with the song Music of my life , which she wrote for the Korean boy band My Name . Kautz gained national and international stage experience as a solo artist at Wincent Weiss, where she opened the concerts as a support act from 2016 to 2018. As a result, she gained greater prominence and held her first own concert in the pawn shop in Cologne at the beginning of 2018.

In autumn 2018 she went on the “Achtung Baby, es geht los!” Tour with her own songs and her band for the first time, during which she traveled across Germany as well as Austria and Switzerland. In addition to Luca Hänni and Mateo von Culcha Candela , other artists such as Körner were also on stage with her as special guests . Especially for her tour, she produced her own limited EP of the same name with all the songs she played on tour. Following the tour, Julia Kautz released her single Thank you in December with impressions from the tour as a thank you to her fans.

In the second half of 2019, Julia supported the bestselling author Meike Werkmeister , who used Kautz's song quotes in her books, as musical accompaniment at her readings. In December 2019 Julia Kautz was there again as a support act. This time she accompanied the Danish singer-songwriter Aura Dione on her tour of Germany.

Julia Kautz's song Wieder Engel was the campaign song for “B Builds Up Nepal” in 2018 as part of a charity campaign in which the proceeds will benefit street children in Nepal. She also supports charity campaigns, such as Welthungerhilfe at “Rock against Hunger” or at “Advent Brunch” in December 2019 and “Ein Herz für Kinder” in July 2020, at which she auctioned a Skype concert for a good cause .
