Julius Alexander Freiherr Gans Edler zu Putlitz (born June 28, 1814 in Spandau , † March 22, 1891 in Cottbus ) was a Prussian major general .

Julius was a son of the Prussian major Karl Freiherr Gans Edler zu Putlitz (1756-1825) and his second wife Amalie, nee Schenck von Wiedebach (1782-1826).

Military career

Putlitz visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . Subsequently, on August 19, 1831, he was transferred to the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as portepeef ensign, and in mid-September 1832 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant . He was aggregated to the Guard Reserve Infantry Regiment on October 12, 1832 and assigned to February 14, 1834. 1837/48 Putlitz was adjutant of the III. Putlitz married Bernhardine von Maltitz (1817-1892), a daughter of Major Philipp August von Maltitz (1786-1839), in Potsdam on May 9, 1843 . The couple's only daughter Margarethe (1844–1872) died as a canon in Marienfließ .
