Julius Keck

Julius Keck (born March 22, 1869 in Nagold , † September 23, 1924 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg politician (most recently DDP ). Keck was Lord Mayor of Tuttlingen and Göppingen and from 1919 to 1920 a member of the Württemberg constitutional state assembly .

Life

Keck came from a merchant family and worked as a primary school teacher for several years . He then studied law and political science . During his studies he became a member of the Tübingen royal society Roigel in 1891 . He completed his studies with a doctorate and then worked in public administration. His first posts were the senior offices in Ludwigsburg and Mergentheim . In 1899 the Württemberg Ministry of the Interior appointed him administrator of the mayor's office in Zuffenhausen . In the following year, Keck was elected mayor of Zuffenhausen and in 1903 won the mayor election in Tuttlingen. In 1907, his official title in Tuttlingen changed from “Stadtschultheiß” to “Lord Mayor”. In the following year Julius Keck was elected Lord Mayor of Göppingen. He held this office until 1919. From 1913 to 1918 Keck held a seat in the Chamber of Deputies of the Württemberg State Parliament . He was a member of the national liberal German party until 1918 and then switched to the DDP . After the November Revolution he was elected to the constituent assembly of the free people's state of Württemberg , to which he belonged for a legislative period until 1920. In 1919, Keck was also appointed Ministerial Director in the Württemberg Ministry of Labor. From 1920 to 1923 Keck worked in Berlin as deputy Reichstag plenipotentiary for economic affairs and then returned to Württemberg, where he worked again as a ministerial director in the labor ministry until his death in 1924.

Julius Keck was buried in the Pragfriedhof in Stuttgart. In 1910, King Wilhelm II of Württemberg awarded him the Knight's Cross First Class of the Order of Frederick . In Göppingen a street is named after Keck.
