Yuri Gennadjewitsch Buzajew ( Russian Юрий Геннадьевич Буцаев * 11. October 1978 in Tolyatti , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian hockey players , among others for the HK Lada Tolyatti , HC CSKA Moscow , HC Ugra and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Continental hockey league was active. He also played 99 games in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings and the Atlanta Thrashers . His brother Vyacheslav was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Yuri Buzajew began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HK Lada Tolyatti , for whose professional team he was active in the super league from 1995 to 1999 . He was in the 1996/97 season Russian runner-up with his team. In addition, he was selected during his time at HK Lada in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 49 players by the Detroit Red Wings . Initially, however, the winger stayed in Russia and moved towards the end of the 1998/99 season within the Super League for HK Dynamo Moscow . For the 1999/2000 season , the Detroit Red Wings ordered him to North America and in his rookie year he was an immediate regular in the National Hockey League . For the Michigan team, he scored five goals in 57 games and gave three assists. In the following two years, however, he could no longer prevail in Detroit's NHL team and spent most of the time with their farm team , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , in the American Hockey League .

On March 19, 2002 Buzajew was given together with a third-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in exchange for the Czech Jiří Šlégr to the Atlanta Thrashers . Until the end of the 2001/02 season , the Russian played mostly for their AHL farm team Chicago Wolves , with whom he won the Calder Cup . He also started the 2002/03 season at the same time with the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL and the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, but left the franchise in November 2002 and returned to his Russian homeland, where he was Russian for the first time with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in 2003 Master became. He then signed a contract with HK CSKA Moscow , for which he only played until December 2003, before he was accepted at his home club HK Lada Tolyatti. With the HK Lada, he became the Russian runner-up in 2005 for the second time in his career.

The left shooter spent the 2009/10 season at HK Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk in the Vysschaja League and rose to the KHL as a second division champion with his team. Nevertheless, he left the club and joined the KHL participant HK Sibir Novosibirsk for the 2010/11 season , but was mostly used by Sauralje Kurgan in the second-rate Wysschaja Hockey League .

In the 2011/12 season Buzayev was under contract with HK CSKA Moscow , where his brother Vyacheslav worked as a coach.

International

For Russia , Buzayev took part in the 1997 U20 World Youth Championship . In this, he and his team took third place and won the bronze medal. He himself contributed to this success with one goal in six games.
